Beyond its temples and beaches, the karst hills of Gunungkidul hide a handful of waterfalls that rarely make it onto first-time itineraries. Sri Gethuk, reached by a short bamboo raft ride across a river, tumbles over limestone into a turquoise pool perfect for a swim. Kedung Kandang and Grojogan Sewu Kalibiru are smaller, quieter alternatives if you'd rather skip the crowds, though roads to reach them are narrow and best tackled by scooter or a hired driver familiar with the area. Visit in the dry season, roughly April through October, when water is clearer and access roads aren't muddy. Bring a change of clothes and waterproof sandals, most of these spots involve wading or short scrambles over wet rock. Sri Gethuk waterfall is widely known as Slempret waterfall because it located in Slempret. This waterfall flanked by the high cliff (around 50 meters). The local people believed that this gamelan owned by the Slempret king of goblin, Anggo Mendura. It said that the waterfall was the location of the ghost market. Finally, this waterfall is famous by the name Slempret waterfall.
Sri Gethuk waterfall is the tourist object that includes Goa Rancang Kencana, Sri Gethuk waterfall, archeological site, fishing area, and campground. This place is fully organized by the local village youth. For the entrance ticket, we need to pay three-thousand rupiah for each person. Meanwhile, to rent the boat, we need to pay five-thousand rupiah.
